Parking passes may be purchased at the Townsend Visitor Center (7906 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Townsend), the Maryville Welcome Center (201 S. Washington St., Maryville) or at the parking gate on event days.
FREE Townsend Shuttle
Don’t forget to hop on the FREE shuttle that takes you around Townsend.
Buses, donated from the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center, will run from the Heritage Center to Little Arrow to Trillium Cove to Little River Railroad Museum to Cades Cove Cellars to Apple Valley to the Townsend Visitors Center and back to the Heritage Center.
One bus runs from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a second from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., both days.
The last bus will leave the Townsend Visitor Center at 6 p.m. and returns to the Heritage Center, on both Friday and Saturday.

The Little River Railroad and Lumber Company is a non-profit corporation founded in 1982 to preserve the heritage of the Little River Lumber Company and the Little River Railroad. We operate a museum in Townsend, Tennessee, collecting, preserving and exhibiting the history of these companies, and of the people in this region.

The Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center is pleased to offer the 5th annual Tennessee Pottery Festival. Featuring a selection of the nation’s finest potters, this festival offers the opportunity to view and purchase different styles of pottery and other goods made of clay.

The Cades Cove Loop is a scenic, 11-mile drive with a backdrop of the mountain peaks and its lush, rolling greens. The loop is a one-way, one-lane paved road; be prepared to stop frequently, and the loop takes approximately two to four hours to complete. Nevertheless, the slow pace makes it easy to enjoy the mountain landscapes, wildflower meadows and diverse wildlife. When traveling the scenic loop road, plan to get out and visit the restored buildings, the Visitor Center, and the ample photo spots.
For hundreds of years, Cherokee Native Americans hunted in Cades Cove. The first Europeans settled in the cover between 1818 and 182, and by 1830, the population expanded to 271 residents. Scattered along the loop are three churches, a working grist mill, barns, log houses, and many other faithfully restored eighteenth and nineteenth-century structures. Pick up a tour booklet for information about the buildings you'll see in the cove and the people who lived here.
Cades Cove is a broad, verdant valley surrounded by mountains and is the most visited part of this National Park, and offers some of the best opportunities for wildlife viewing in the park. Large numbers of white-tailed deer are frequently seen, and sightings of black bear, coyote, ground hog, turkey, raccoon, skunk, and other animals are also possible.
